AJ_DA have been awarded honorable mention in the Aarhus RETHINK pavillon competition

The title RETHINK ARCHITECTURE aims to make the pavilion an active part of Aarhus as the European Capital of Culture in 2017. A reminder of the architect’s role in the public space. An open platform as an architectural framework for a wide range of activities over a 5 month period starting in May 2017. The architectural association East Jutland has established a broad collaboration with TAP Østjylland (The Architecture Project) including the RISING, AAFx (Aarhus) Architecture Festival), Aarhus School of Architecture, IDAbyg Østjylland, so that all these organizations will contribute events in and around the pavilion during the 5 months during which the pavilion conveys architectural experiences in the City of Culture and the City of Culture.

The project is supported by the municipality of Aarhus, which makes the area available to the pavilion. The competition was written by architects for architects and architectural students MAA, and it is an example of how to conduct an open project competition in a ‘light version’. This means a faster and less resource-consuming form of competition that can inspire others to do the same, even in the case of more complex projects.
